The address is partly modeled on The Love Song of J. Arthur Nickles, which is based on that other love song. I read Nickles when I was mistakenly studying English lit and it spoke to me as almost nothing else.
The photo was taken from the top of the stairs in the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography, which rarely has exhibits I like, which makes me sad.
